Fraser Institute does report every year for schools in
Ontario to help parents choosing the right school for their students. It allows
parents to know the schools’ achievements, what schools do well on, and their
improvement. It follows several criteria to score the schools, that
include the year 9 students’ academic performance on English, Math, the
different of the academic result of female and male students, the radio of
students who do not meet the standard, and the development of the schools.
Schools with higher scores will earn a higher ranking. Reports for Ontario
elementary school and secondary School of 2020 are out on May 24.
In Ontario Secondary School report, Canadian International School of Hong Kong rank No.4 with a score of 9.3 that stands out of a total of 739 schools in Ontario. It earns the same ranking as ISNA school locates in Mississauga, Canada. This makes Canadian International School of Hong Kong become the only overseas school included in the ranking list.
About the ranking, although students are required to talk EQAO and OSSLT to earn Ontario graduation certificate, but since there are not enough students for the scoring, so this does not mean the school can get in the ranking every year.
Besides, as lots of private school do not get funding from the government, allow students to take secondary language test, and not mandatory require students to take the EQAO, so they are not included in the ranking.
