Parents’ wishes American International School to offer 30 % tuition fees reduce as school is shut down due to coronavirus. Parents said they had paid for over hundreds of thousand dollars, but only get maximum of HK$8000 as discount. They feel like the school is not doing enough to help ease the financial difficulties with the coronavirus situation.
The school said it had applied financial help for this and the next year. It is trying its best to offer help and would except to get funding from the Hong Kong Government for employment, that would help for staff members and teachers. The tuitions fees that is charged does not cover the fees for activities.
There are
four instalments for the current school year and with next term there would be
first payment deduced by the financial discount, that goes from HK$2500 to
HK$4000, depending on the educational level students in. Parents feel like this
financial action is not really enough to count as school fees reduction or
discount as even school service like a school field trip or utilizing school
facilities would cost more than HK$3000. They feel like paying a lot for
tuition fees in a year and with all the add on, by only receiving little is not
as beneficial. They are disappointed by the management and consider having
their children transfer to another school for the next year.
