COVID 19 Updates - Protective gear for students, Exam & Summer Vacation changes

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, students have been continuing their education with online learning. Students are trying to keep up with coursework, there are exams that get postponed, so students would have enough time to study and be ready for their exams.

While students are worrying and studying hard, parents worry if there are enough protective supplies for their children, for example: face mask. They are anxious of the risk their children might face when reinstating classes.

Schools have been rescheduling their teaching timetable within the four months school shut down that impacted lots of students in Hong Kong. It impacted students with all educational levels. As for resume class procedures, it will be followed by the timeline mention below.

The education minister said upper-level secondary school students would be first to get back to school on May 27, then the younger level of secondary students back to campus on June 8. Primary school students and K3 level of kindergarten would be back on June 15. For 1st and 2nd-year kindergarten students, they would not return school this year.

Even though International Schools have different educational curriculums and schedules for summer vacation, but international schools can regain classes on May20. English School Foundation said it is possible that higher level of secondary school students would return school on the same or close to the date, but it still has to wait on the final decision to be determined.

Students that back to school would be on half-day and they are required to keep distance socially. For summer vacation, the decision will upon the school individually. Since plans, schedules, and learning progress for students varies for each school.

Mask supply is still enough in Hong Kong, also the government would distribute masks later, there would be enough protective gear for students. Schools care for their student and would make sure to check temperatures of students, keep the distance for desks and chairs, some would rearrange students to smaller class sizes, and to have back up classrooms. This helps in case there are students show symptoms like coughing, the school would inform the parents after transfer the student to a different classroom. This would let the student can go visit a doctor.

Most class activities are canceled, and some suggested school should not pressure students to catch up all the losses due to online learning, since it would be very difficult for them to recover months of learning materials in one month such a short period of in-class time.
